ON MENTAL ILLNESS

Hell is others wrote JP Sartre in huis clos , and although this quote is said not to represent his view on the matter , i cannot keep but think of how accurately it describes our relationship to people while struggling from mental instability .

I must admit as a person that goes through severe depressive episodes i find the overall opinion of others to be invigorating of the existential dread i feel at these times .

Thus the question rose to my brain the other night : how would a complete isolation impact depression ?

In truth , most of you must wonder ; well , what about loved ones ? I was once told by a psychologist that the presence of people no matter their status to us is a burden during freak outs . I believe it to be true .

Apparently at least 1 out of 5 people will at some point struggle from depression , admitting that the average sized family is composed of 5 individuals ; means one of them will suffer from it , while the others might be spared , making their understanding of the matter very slim , therefore proving my point here .

It seems the loss of spontaneity isn’t the only condition the presence of others brings , mental health aggravation is one as well
