How to Recover Data from a Damaged Partition (Drive) Using MiniTool Power Data Recovery
Losing data from a corrupt or damaged partition (drive) could be devastating, especially if you don’t have a backup safely stored somewhere else. But that can be fixed if you have the following:
- A computer (I’m using a windows operating system for this article).
- A data recovery software (MiniTool Power Data Recovery V7.0).
- The drive you want to recover.
- A drive to save your recovered data to (you can save it on your computer, if you don’t have access to an external drive).
STEPS:
1. Connect the device (drive) to your computer via a USB port or Card reader (depending on the type of drive you want to recover).
2. Launch the MiniTool Power Data Recovery software and select Damaged Partition Recovery.
3. You’ll be presented with a list of all partitions on your computer, select the partition you want to recover on the list and select full scan on the lower right side of the window.
4. MiniTool Power Data Recovery software will run a scan to access files from the damaged partition, this scan might take a while depending on the amount of data on the partition so I would advise you plug your computer to a power source while at it or have it properly charged beforehand.
5. After a successful scan, MiniTool Power Data Recovery software will display a list of all files (data) available for recovery on the partition, on the upper right-hand side of the window select the path tab and tick the check box beside the data type you want to recover or if you have a particular file in mind, go ahead and select the ‘+’ symbol beside the folder containing that data type, you will then see the file you want to recover and select it.
6. After selecting the data type, on the lower right side of the window select the save button. A dialogue box will pop up asking you to select the directory you wish to save the file(s) to, select the directory and select the okay button.
7. The recovery process will start and the duration depends on the amount of data you’re recovering from the damaged partition, when recovery is complete you’ll be prompted with a pop-up message which will specify the file path indicating where your recovered files have been stored.
So your file(s) have been recovered and you now have access to your file(s) again!
