Not sure why Nolan fans can’t handle any criticism of Nolan. His point is that this is somewhat conventional for Nolan. When you go into a Nolan movie, you can expect mountains of dialogue (thankfully gone in this movie), non-linear plot progression, male lead with clear motivations, plot that leads that character and the audience to question his motivations, set piece, and a twist sometimes in tandem with the set piece.

I haven’t seen Dunkirk yet but I’m not a huge fan of how his characters serve the plot rather than the other way around. Hoping Dunkirk changes that.
