Rules Of Ihram For Men and Women
Ihram is a very essential dress for every man and woman who performs the Hajj and Umrah. You can understand the importance of Ihram in this way that all males and females are creatures of Allah, and are equal in front of the Lord.
If one is a rich person then surely he/she wears a precious dress which may be more beautiful or shiny. If one is a poor person then he/she wears a normal dress which may be neither shiny nor beautiful. Therefore, it is a great message for all people, to vanish the distinction between poor and rich people.

What is Ihram?
Ihram is different for men and women.
A man wears two unstitched sheets which colour is white. The first sheet of Ihram is used to cover the upper body of a man whereas the second sheet of Ihram is used to cover the lower body of a man.
It is a very great example of unity in this world where Millions of People (Males) gather in the city of Makkah with the same dress during the Hajj and Umrah.
A woman wears a normal dress but she should cover his normal dress with an Abaya and it is Ihram for a woman. Abaya is also known as Burqa.

Allah’s Messenger Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said: one should not pass the Miqat unless he/she is in the state of Ihram. (Bukhari)
There are some rules for Ihram to perform the Umrah and Hajj.
1: combing your hair
2: cutting your nails
3: removing unwanted body hair
4: shaping your bread (for men)
5: trimming your moustache (for men)
6: Take a bath with the intention of entering into Ihram but if there is no water available for a bath then make a wudhu which is better.
7: Make an intention of entering into Ihram such as for Umrah declare Labbaika Umrah and for Hajj declare Labbaika Hajj
Make a Talbiyah on the way of Hajj and Umrah again and again.
Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik,
Labbaik La Shareeka Laka,
Labbaik,
Innal-Hamda Wan-nimata,
Laka Wal-Mulk,
La Shareeka Lak.
There are some actions that are not allowed in the state of Ihram.
1: covering the head (for men)
2: covering the face (for women)
A beautiful Hadith for man in which our beloved Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said:
He shouldn’t wear a shirt, hooded robe, trousers, a turban or leather slippers.
Another beautiful Hadith for a woman in which Muhammad (PBUH) said:
The woman in Ihram should not wear niqaab or gloves.
This hadith means she does not cover her face and hands.
Wearing perfumed. A Hadith in which Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said about a man whose camel had trampled him to death while he was in Ihram “Wash him with water and lotus leaves and shroud (winding) him in his 2 garments, but don’t cover his head or perfume him with hanoot”.
Hunting animals. As Allah says in the Holy Quran:
O you who believe! Kill not the game (hunted animals) while you are in a state of Ihram.
(Surah Al-Maidah; 5:95)
Sexual Activity. Allah says in the Quran.
So whosoever intends to perform Hajj therein, then he shouldn’t have sexual relations, nor commit sin, nor dispute unjustly during the Hajj.
(Surah Al-baqrah; 2:197)
