A LITTLE THROWBACK OF CAVS VICTORY
Lately, there are a lot of news about the trading of Kyrie Irving to Boston Celtics which traded with 3 other players from Boston Celtics which are Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, and Ante Zizic. But here, instead of talking about the trade, I want to give a little throwback of Cleveland Cavaliers’ victory. So, here we go!
One of the most well-known American professional basketball team is Cleveland Cavaliers. The team which based on Cleveland, Ohio, has competing in National Basketball Association. The Cleveland Cavaliers which also known as the Cavs is a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Central Division.
In 2016, Cleveland Cavaliers for the first time in Cleveland history became the NBA champions. They win 4–3 over the Golden State Warriors. For the Cavs, this is the first title to be achieved throughout the club’s history. Previously, the Cavs only three times step into the NBA finals, namely in 2007 and 2011. And in 2016, the became the best team after defeating last season’s champion, Golden State Warriors.
Warriors won the Game one and two. Then the Cavs narrowed the lead after winning the Game three, but Warriors drove back into the Game four. The suspension against Draymond Green and Stephen Curry’s fouled out in the Game five and six left the Warriors helpless. The Cavs can overcome backwardness and equalize the score. In the Game 7 ate the Oracle Arena, the Cavaliers won 93–89 over the hosts after going through a very tight game and chasing each other points.
LeBron James became the MVP of the 2016 NBA finals. He scored his sixth triple double throughout his career in the NBA final. In the Game 7 against the Warriors, he packed 27 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds. For the triple double, he only lost to Magic Johnson, the LA Lakers legend, who has already done seventh times in the NBA finals.
Here are some interesting facts behind the success of Cavaliers in 2016 NBA finals:
- Cleveland Cavaliers is the first team to become an NBA champion after lagging behind 1–3 from Golden States Warriors. There has never been a team that managed to do that before Cleveland Cavaliers did it in 2016 NBA finals.
- The Cavs is the first team since 1978 to be able to assured the NBA title by playing at the opponent’s headquarters in the Game 7. The last team to do that was Washington Bullets.
- Golden States Warriors hold 73–9 records in regular rounds and become the NBA’s all-time best record breaking the Chicago Bulls (72–10). But the good record was over to stifle because the Warriors lost in the final, especially with conditions already 3–1 ahead.
- LeBron James leads points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks compare with other players from both teams in 2016 NBA finals. James was the first person to do so throughout NBA history.
- The deadly duet of Kyrie Irving and LeBron James both produced 25 points or more in five games in the NBA finals this season. They are the second duo to do so after Jerry West and Elgin Baylor in the Los Angeles Lakers in 1962 and 1963 finals.
For LeBron James, this victory paid two failures with the Cavaliers in 2007 and 2011. In total, he has collected three NBA championship rings, another two with Miami Heat.
Well here is a little throwback of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ victory in 2016 NBA finals. Even though start from today we can’t enjoy the deadly duet of Kyrie Irving and LeBron James, but the important is we still got our King playing for the Cavs in this season (because we never know what could happen in the next seasons). And lastly, for the new team member, Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic welcome to the land. Let’s bring back the victory!
