I’ve dreamt of having my own DSLR for a long time. I contemplated buying one when I was at school. But iPhone 5S (and Instagram) did a fine job recording my time there, and I was pretty convinced that a student without a regular income could not afford such niceties as DSLR cameras. I think I did the right thing by not spending money on it back then.

So about a month into my real job, I decided to buy me a present. I got a refurbished Nikon D3200 with standard lens kit on Amazon. It was maybe $150 cheaper than a regular new product. But I guessed that it wouldn’t make any difference for me.

I went to Creamer’s Field for a test shoot. I was still figuring things out with the new camera and all that. Out of about 130 photos I took, I got three good ones.
