My Soul Looks Back and Wonders: A Critical Examination of the Wonder Woman Movie
Son of Baldwin

Your dialogue on this is so spot on, especially discussing the “brute” trope of Artemis. I sat in the theatre feeling sad that I knew it was a stereotype my white female friends would let pass without observation. One trope I am surprised you did not explore was Sameer, the brown wingman of undistinguished MENA lineage that was used as some odd vehicle for an apology for any ciriticisms of the film’s lack of true diversity “I wanted to be an actor but I was the wrong color”…but like naturally the film still stars two white actors cause duh, all they had to do was acknowledge it right???? And then he is back to being the swarthy womanizing liar.
