Galveston Island, TX is a hot spot for tourism. There are a variety of things to do, see, and buy. It is a great location to spend a weekend or longer. Below are just a few of the things that Galveston has to offer.

HISTORY

Galveston’s history is awash with tales of pirates, explorers, and immigrants. It is also been plagued with natural disasters that have left a permanent mark. Statues and art that commemorate several of Galveston’s historical events are located throughout the island. There are several sites to visit if history intrigues you. There is the Moody Mansion, Bishop’s Palace, and Ashton Villa that were built ranging from 1859–1895. Several tours are offered so the tourist may see all there is to Galveston’s history.

ENTERTAINMENT

There are many things to do in Galveston. Beach activities are always a fun entertainment. There is the famous Pleasure Pier, which offers several carnival attractions. Boating, fishing, horse back riding, and swimming are just a few of the things you can do. Many sea life exhibits, like the Moody Gardens, are a great way to learn about Galveston’s marine life. The many museums are also a fun way to spend time observing.

SHOPPING AND FOOD

The Strand in Galveston provides a variety of experiences. Shops are on every street corner. They range from tourist shops to upscale decor boutiques. Galveston is a host to different flavors and cuisines. There is every kind of food there, and the seafood is spectacular.
