i: thoroughness & comprehension (+)

While you use a cultural catalyst to make observations about your own life and cultural background, the way this story is told, and the elements of it (parents, traditions, being a modern students etc.) are relatable to almost anyone of any age. That relate-ability makes this piece work, but I would have liked to see a solution/resolution to the story you told, or a deeper analysis of what the Year of the Monkey means to your culture and to you personally. Who knows, maybe we’ll get it this week.

ii: creativity (√)

The first photo…where did it come from? If it’s yours, let us know, if you borrowed it, I’d like to see some attributions. Especially because the caption on the second photo is hilarious and really makes your point. Also, your closet is very organized!

iii: use of platform (√)

Because this piece is relatable, it makes for a good online read. But, it’s good to think about where else this piece could go, and who the audience really is. The piece could have benefitted from the use of a pulled quote or more cheeky captions.
