New Orleans

Jazz fest was the move. A couple of friends and I planned on going to Jazz fest in early 2016 and made the 28-hour train ride down to New Orleans on April 27th. My dad works for Amtrak, so I got a deal going down by train and thought I would save some money on a plane ticket. Turns out they were around the same price, and Philadelphia to New Orleans by plane takes about 3 hours. What was I thinking! I think I was anxious and excited about the trip, I wasn’t worried about other options. My dad also encouraged me to travel by train, just because we always have, he’s worked at Amtrak for over 20 years. We’ve traveled to St Louis, Texas, Florida, Vermont, New York and countless other states all by train. I think my dad enjoys traveling by train and it definitely has a special place in his heart. He has seen so many new sights and people, it’s exciting. I think he has a hope for me, that no matter what transportation I use to travel, I take full advantage of the scenery, the moments, and the people you are surrounded by.
