Why I’m Taking A Break From *Some* Social Media

We‘ve heard it all before – social media is bad for our mental health. It makes us obsessed with the opinions of others and it drains us of our positivity. We strive for perfection and try to make our life seem better than it actually is. It’s no secret that I’m going through a bad mental patch of late – and this is part of my reasoning for ditching some social media platforms for the time being, at least.

I don’t wish for my life to revolve around opening and closing all of the different social platforms and being hyper aware of everything that’s going on. And I think it’s already proving mentally beneficial for me to take this action.

My Mental Health Needs Work

Anyone who knows me well will know that I’m mentally a bit of a shambles. I’m diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and many of the symptoms that come with that are emotionally draining. I feel a constant need for validation and have a huge fear of abandonment, and the likes of Facebook and Instagram weren’t helping with my mental health in the slightest.
