Backup and Restore POP3 data

When you use the POP3 account, all your Roadrunner email data like the contacts, emails, tasks, calendar, and notes are stored locally in your device as a pst-file. For backup, you must regularly generate a copy of your pst-file to your backup location when the Roadrunner email is closed. For restoration, rename the current pst-file and then restore it from your backup location to the original one. For backing up the selected amount of folders, use the import and export method.

Backup and restore IMAP data

When the user chooses the IMAP account, the data is either stored in a PST file or an ost file. The fact that two different files can be obtained; so it gets quite complicated to deal with the backup in this case. Your Roadrunner emails and folders are stored on the IMAP server and then synced with the Roadrunner which stores the data in a local file on the device. The remaining data like the Calendar, Contacts, and tasks are not stored and are only synced with the IMAP mail server. The backup of your calendar, contacts, notes, and tasks is stored within the PST file just like the POP3 account. Make your backup copies of your cached pst-file or ost-file.

The restoration strategy for IMAP mail is to utilize the methods and processes endowed by the service provider. To restore the mailbox items. In case of the corrupt local mail cache, rename the pst-file or ost-file that is composed of the IMAP data to .old. Upon restarting the Roadrunner email, Roadrunner will generate a new local cache file comprising all the data from the IMAP mail server.

The data that is stored inside a separate pst-file, in such a case, rename the current pst-file and restore the pst-file from backup to the original location. In case the data is stored under the ost file of the IMAP account, try restoring it manually by importing or copying the data from pst-backup.
