I’m not sure if it would reach that point, or if a civil war would erupt from people deciding that any attempt to forcibly disarm them would constitute tyranny of the exact type the Second Amendment was enacted to prevent.
All right, let’s look at what it would take to do away with 350 million guns, by your methods.

It would most likely result in a homegrown terrorist faction. Most people, like myself, would be too afraid not to comply, though, I’d wager.
You have to figure, though, that a lot of these guys probably have machine shops and power tools in their garages, and they’ll probably figure out how to make their own handguns from scratch.
People in the jungles in the Philippines make 1911 handguns by hand. Think about what Americans can do (with our access to the internet and technology)?
The smart people would give up their guns but then figure out how to make their own, illegally, and then distribute these to their friends and family and stuff.
