This looks interesting. It’s certainly awful when cases of police brutality come up, towards any color. I wonder if the writers of Nighthawk would be willing to show the carnage and mayhem that is caused by a lot of rioters following a police shooting.
I wonder if the writers have the balls to show how heavy the effects are on innocent bystanders and small business owners.
Not to quote a completely overly quoted movie, but as Alfred said in the Dark Knight, “Some people just want to watch the world burn.” A lot of those people causing the chaos probably don’t give a damn about some teenager that got shot, they just wanna burn shit down and loot, and it’s awful that that happens time and time again with a lot of these riots.
I will say, though, I think that in light of these crazy riots, apparently a lot of police officers have admitted that they’re somewhat hesitant to even pull over certain people at times, or drive up to question groups of people.
It’s kind of crazy to think of someone being afraid to do their job due to public pressure, but maybe it’s for the best. I think cops are more uniform now than ever before. Sure some racial tensions still exist, but probably not like it used to.
Bottom line, I think most cops would be too damn scared to try and extort someone for cash, or try to intimidate a woman for sexual favors. Sure, we all still hear about the occasional cases where this happens, and it’s messed up when it does, but I think that in these days, cops can’t afford to be shady. There’s just too many cameras around — hell, even a lot of cops have to where body cams now.
I asked a cop what he thought about his, and he said he liked it because it only protected him, if ever his integrity were to be challenged. It’s good to hear a cop saying he likes a body cam, so his every move can be tracked, so his supervisors know exactly what he’s doing and how he responds to certain situations.
Personally, though, I wouldn’t be able to handle the pressure and stress of being a cop in this day and age. I’d literally rather have things become more like the Wild West than be a cop today. At least if it were like it was back then, you could freakin defend your home without having to go on trial, for years, become thousands upon thousands of dollars in debt to a lawyer, just to prove that you acted justly in defending your home and your life.
Things were simpler back then, and perhaps better. Excluding how horrible discrimination was, of course.
