Who are you writing for? Quantity or Quality?

I write for quality. I write whatever and wherever I want, and never check my analytics. I write because the Internet gave me an unexpected gift: an audience. Before the mid-90s I had to get a publisher to have an audience, and now I am my own publisher.

I write to my friends. Even those I never met. But I assume that if they’ve taken the time to read, they’re my friends. As a consequence, I have largely avoided being trolled. It’s almost as if my honesty is a little cocoon around me.

I cannot tell you how deeply grateful I am for the Internet. My own children are tired of hearing me say “the Internet and yoga changed my life,” but they did. The Internet gave me an audience and yoga gave me the attitude of gratitude to appreciate it.
