Hi, everyone today I am going to review the classical book “Batman and Psychology: The Dark and Stormy Knight by Travis Langley” and will give you my opinion about it. As we all know Batman is The Dark Knight of Gotham City, but this book is not about Batman it’s about the psychology of Batman. So, let’s get started. The book shares the ideas that how one could relate himself to a fictional character, i.e., even how can we inspire from a fictional character. I have described the summary of the book here, i.e., the points in a very small way through which this book will guide you through but, this is nowhere near the book if you like it you can buy it. Link to buy is here

The main motive of this book was to realize that “How we can all relate both to his struggles and growth.”

At the very young age, Bruce lost his parents and felt responsible for that. He could have lived with the guilt or paralyzing fear of bat or may have searched for the Revenge or payback for what happened to his parents, Due to the loss from which he was suffering he was filled with flood of emotions, he could have let all those emotions, anger, hatred, guilt, rage, fear, etc control him and that could have driven him into darkness. But instead, he chose to switch out from the pity and victim mentality and never looked back.

He then uses all this energy as a positive force to induce his growth. He became untiring equipped with determination, grit willpower faith and emerged as a man who has a purposefully planned and conquered his fear to become Batman.

As Batman, he can make those choices which no one else can. He became Batman because no one else could do that what he was doing despite working outside the law Batman has trained himself restrain his natural instinct for revenge and to never take a life. He believes that everyone in this world could be changed to become a better person & there is always the scope of becoming better better i.e. better than the best and all of them deserves a chance. He has trained and developed such an incredible ability to self-control be disciplined and to regulate his impulse.

As long as Batman Begins. is terror starts to spread all over the city more and more people get inspired by him even bad ones too. They also created their different identity, but they are the bad ones as a consequence fighting for good has led him against villain who offers twisted image of himself like, Riddler is a kind of person who challenges his intellect, Scarecrow challenges fear, bane challenges strength, Two-face a man who is not capable of reconciling his both good and evil side, so he leaves the decision to the coin and above all is joker who believes in anarchy and chaos. He is the most dangerous of all because everyone else has some aim and goal to achieve, but he kills everyone as his goal is to achieve nothing he has a different way to see the life which is just opposite to the very fundamental rule of Batman and pushes him to his limit at each confrontation.

Even after all that Batman is a human but, If self-regulation was a muscle, then he is a man that might have superpower because he lives by his own principle and refuses to break them under any circumstances. He has become a person who uses everything he learns to do good to make sure that whatever happens to him would never happen to anyone else. He has built himself on an ideal and improve each day and night for that Bruce has risen from a fearful who become the symbol of justice. As Bruce, we all got our part of stressful experience in life.

We all don’t start with the same opportunities but we have to realize that most of our constraints are internal. We are being played by our brain who just wants us to keep alive, so we treat ourselves to stay in our comfort zone and restrain ourselves from taking actions. I don’t want to realize at the end of my life that I was cheating myself into living an average life, trying to blend in just by suppressing my creativity and passion just to feel accepted.

It’s true that we are constantly face by Narcissism, greed, lust and the thirst for power or the fear of uncertainties as such if we want to have a positive impact on society you must stay dedicated have faith to prep yourself both physically and mentally to constantly thrive towers or ideal self.

The book covers these main points also some of those are -:

  • You don’t need any supernatural power to serve some people.
  • Everyone has fear conquering them is what matters.
  • Training is nothing; will is everything.
  • Justice and Revenge are both different; justice is about harmony, revenge is about you making yourself feel better.
  • Why do we fall? So that we can learn how to pick ourselves up.
  • It’s not who we are underneath, but what we do that defines us.
  • Never give up. There is always hope. Hope is a good thing.
  • Enemies are the necessity. You keep Fighting; You keep learning eventually, you become better.
  • Fear is necessary to keep pushing yourself. It is the most powerful impulse of spirit it has enough power to made impossible possible.

Maybe for Gotham Batman is the symbol of Justice but for us, Batman is an inspiration to make The world a better place to live in. From his traumatizing childhood to the enemy he faces, he never lost his faith or surrendered on his vision and kept working on himself.

My opinion.

Reading this book has changed my perspective on life. I highly recommend everyone to read this book.

“In a way everything which Bruce faces happens to us but, the way in which he responds back to them is what makes him Batman”
