Sexual well being in Ayurveda
I have borrowed the picture above from a piece Visvak Sen P wrote for The Hindu. Visvak summarises the problem surrounding sexual wellness in India when he writes
Male sexual health is rarely discussed openly in India: the assumption is that everyone’s plumbing works just fine and if it doesn’t, a fervent prayer to the deity in the street-corner temple will take care of any leaks and blocks. But divine intervention is notoriously flaky, and those whom it fails often find their lifeline in a bright yellow poster on a decrepit wall abutting the same temple.
I started writing about Ayurveda over the past several months. In this post I am going to touch upon sexual wellness to show this is not a taboo subject in Ayurveda.
Ayurveda considers erectile dysfunction not as a sexual problem, but as a health problem. The process of erection and ejaculation is dealt with detail in Ayurvedic texts. Sexual arousal is a complex process that involves the brain, hormones, emotions, nerves, muscles and blood vessels. Erectile dysfunction can result from a problem with any of these.
Ayurveda has remedies for erectile dysfunction which are 100% herbal. These preparations enhance one’s potency by - treating loss of libido, increasing time span of erection, preventing premature ejaculation and rejuvenating the male reproductive system.
There is no need to grope in the dark world of quacks for male health problems. Erectile dysfunction or impotence can be treated within the guidelines of classical Ayurveda literature. Like all other health issues, these treatments are customised to suit the individual’s requirement. All you need to do is obtain services of a qualified and competent Ayurveda doctor.
