Vaghareli Chapati: A Famous Gujarati Snack

Vaghareli chapati is a very spicy, tasty & quick snack prepared with leftover chapatis. It’s a very healthy & uncommon recipe. It’s generally distributed during breakfast. It is a Gujarati style chapati chiwda but even the Maharashtrian could make it too but in a different style with peanut powder & onions & call it Phodnichi Poli whereas in the recipe we don’t utilize peanut powder or onions. The components needed for the dish are also very minimum. And it is distributed hot along with curd. So, let’s proceed with the complete recipe including the ingredients list and step by step procedure.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 5 Chapatis (leftover)
  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • 2 Green Chilli
  • 1/4th tablespoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1/4th tablespoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 tablespoon Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 1.5 cups Water
  • Salt To Taste

PREPARATION:

  • Take five to six leftover chapatis.
  • Properly cut them in tiny pieces with hand.
  • Heat some oil in a vessel & drop mustard seeds.
  • After the seeds crackle, pour the water.
  • Take the water for boiling & include turmeric powder, red chilli powder & two finely sliced green chillies.
  • Allow the water to boil for like one minute & then include the chapati cuttings.
  • Combine properly & cook for like two to three mins.
  • Drop lime juice & stir it & cook until the water is vaporized.
  • Decorate using the coriander leaves & distribute it hot.

Alternate Recipe Maharashtrian Style (Dry):

  • Properly cut the leftover chapatis with the help of hand.
  • Heat two tbsp oil in a vessel & drop cumin seeds, mustard seeds & curry leaves.
  • After seeds crackle, drop well sliced onions, salt & sliced green chillies.
  • Combine properly & cook until the onions become translucent.
  • Drop red chilli powder, turmeric powder & a few groundnut powder.
  • Mix properly & cook for like two mins.
  • Decorate with coriander leaves & distribute hot.
