All Indians, and many people in the world as well think of Kashmir as THE place to go to beat the heat. But little do they know that Kashmir is way much more than that. I also know the area is an active war zone as of now so visit Kashmir once everything settles down. Here are a handful of things that Kashmir has that you would rarely find anywhere else.

Killer Sceneries:

Kashmir has a truckload of amazing places to visit, which altogether make it one of the most scenic places to visit in the world. It has probably the best combination of ice capped mountains, with places like the Mughal Gardens, and beautiful hill stations like Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonamarg; it has it all. Adding to that, it has amazing lakes in the middle of the mountains, like the Dal Lake, and not to mention the amazing glaciers and valleys that are must go to places.

Adventure Sports:

Kashmir is a hub for almost all mountain related adventure sports, be it the generic things like trekking or rock climbing, or be it river rafting, and paragliding. They also have snow activities like skiing and snowboarding, and many water sports as well. Ladakh has Mountain Biking arrangements with bicycles for rent and pretty reasonable rates, and Gulmarg has a Golf Course in the middle of the hills too.

Weather:

Most of the people who make this getaway are trying to get away from the heat of most of the places in India, or even from the world. Kashmir has a highest temperature of about 24°C on its hottest month, and the lowest of the low can go down to about -2°C. So if you’re like me and despise heat, you need to get away to this magical place.

Shopping:

Srinagar, the capital of J&K, is the place most famous for its handicrafts, leather products, and shawls and stoles. Pashminas are what this place is highly famous for.

Still think Kashmir is a place just to chill? Well it is, but it has all the above as well. My advice would be to explore all these activities, and only after that can you proudly say, I have been to Kashmir.
