Interestingly, Friedrich Nietzsche, who one would certainly not identify with a Buddhist worldview, and was only dimly aware of Eastern philosophy as a whole, advised us to “approach the world like a child at play.” I need to meditate on this further before I can determine what importance, if any, this might have but it does seem peculiar that a 19th century German is existentialist (this label may be unfair and too limiting for Nietzsche) came to similar conclusions as ancient sages with whom he was only casually familiar.
