Ullah has researched in different fields, where he studied the roots of Islamic extremism and conducted field experiments and gauged opinions.

In 1999, Haroon graduated Bachelor of Arts from Whitman College in Politics. In 2002, he earned a master’s degree at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Thereafter Haroon earned a joint Ph.D. in Political Science and Public Policy from the University of Michigan.
