Mothers are some of the most influential people in our lives. They raise us and guide in the right direction. The most important person in my life is my mother, Brandy Lynch. Brandy grew up in a small town called Tupelo, Mississippi. She was the youngest of two sisters and a brother. She was a basketball star and a straight A student. Her father owned his own business in the catfish industry and her mother was a stay at home mom. Her father’s company was doing very well and they were about to expand the business to Florida. When Brandy was a sophomore in high school, everything changed.

While her father, Bill, was on an out of state business trip, her mother received a letter in the mail from one of his employees. This letter stated that Bill had been having an affair with his secretary and was moving her to Florida with the new company to continue to be his secretary. When her mother got this news, she packed herself and bag and left without telling anyone. When Brandy got home from school, she could not contact or find her mother at all. Being the youngest and the only one left in high school, was all alone at home. Some might see this as a good, parent free time. Brandy did not. She continued going to school for the next few days but by the end of the week, she had stopped going. When her father returned home from the business trip, he found out what had happened and tracked down his wife. Through all of this parental marital trouble, Brandy still excelled in school and kept her focus on sports.

After a while, things got worse and she was forced to move in with an aunt in Georgia. She lived with her through the rest of highschool and had to adapt to this new environment. She basically raised herself and had no parental supervision or advice. Even though she was free to do what she pleased, she still kept straight As and was able to get many scholarships for college. She ended up attending Mississippi State University and graduated from there with a degree in chemistry. Although it was a lot of hard work and discipline, she made it through and accomplished these things all on her own. Her hard work is very inspiring to her children.

After she graduated from college she met her husband, Jeff. They hit it off and were engaged within a year. They were married for three years until they got pregnant with their first child. Once I started school, Brandy started working as a Real Estate Agent. After doing this for a few years, she started working for an appraisal company. Her boss ended up moving and selling her the company that she owns today. Her new little family moved from Roswell to Blue Ridge and started their lives there.

Soon enough, two little boys were born and that of course was a lot of stress on everyone. Brandy is a great mother to all and takes care of everyone the way her mother never did. She is inspiring because she went through so much growing up, and she didn’t want her children to go through the same thing she did.

The next thing that happened, no one could ever prepare a mother for. Her child was sick. Watching anyone you love, especially your child, go through an illness is terrifying. When one of her children was diagnosed with cancer, everything changed. She was that child’s caretaker every second of every day. From hospital appointments, to emergency room runs, she was always there and oozing positivity. She was my hero. She took care of that child and made that child feel safe when everything was going wrong. While she was taking care of the sickly child, she was also raising two other children and babysitting a husband. Being a mom is a very difficult job and Brandy is wonderful at it.

My mom and I have had our ups and downs, but at the end of the day, she is the reason I have made any accomplishments in life. She has been my supporter and number one fan. She is a mother to anyone who needs one and an amazing person. I chose to write about my mom, Brandy Lynch, because she inspires me to be a better person and a better daughter. My mom inspires me to work hard even if everything is going against me. Although we don’t always get along, but I know now that most of the time she is right and she always has my best interests at heart. My mom continues to inspire me everyday. I hope that one day, if I have children, I can be at least half as good of a mom as mine is.
