cheers to the sweetness,
clinging down,
dropping off my jaw
ridiculing my breath,
choking every burn,
wreathed in smoke.

cheers to the time
spent for and with
our faces without a mask
redundant of the flaws
breaking a sweat
to whip us apart.

cheers to the warmth
that holds us together,
even the pretty little lies
that convert the flickering light
into an effervescent ray
that’ll lead to our omelas.

cheers to us, I say,
as I gulp down,
the nostalgia,
our pristine bond,
your eyes,
my amnesia.
