52 Inexorable, Numbered White Squares Are Staring Me In the Face

I’m still fully employed. During long commutes, less-frequent evenings alone, early mornings and occasional weekend, I squeeze in podcast interviews for my show, edit an upcoming ebook and plan frenetically for my first ever conference.

Now grant you, none of the above-mentioned ventures are exactly raking in the dough, and I will confess that there are times over the course of the past year, that I’ve thought above completely ditching it all.

Well, maybe not everything. After all, the podcast is a lot of fun.

I have a comfortable job, but I just can’t shake that itch. You know exactly which itch I’m talking about.

What’s the meaning of the 52? That’s how many days are left until the conference.

What’s it about? Productivity.

I’m been fascinated with the concept for the past couple of years, but I get the feeling that it’s a really mis-used and misunderstood concept.

I’m working on this concept which I’ll call “The Busy-ness Illusion”.

Most people assume time plus effort equals productivity. They work and work and keep themselves busy, but then wonder why they’re not growing their business.

Effectiveness has nothing to do with time and effort. True effectiveness comes about when you get the maximum efficiency in a minimum amount of time.

It’s an idea I’m working through so bear with me. It’s also the driver and impetus for me creating the conference, which has now become my passion project.

It’s the most ambitious project I’ve ever taken on, and it scares the shit out of me. I guess that’s all the more reason to move ahead! I heard once that fear is the universe’s way of telling you ‘what’s next’.

Stay tuned…
