“The shorter your sleep, the shorter your life. The leading causes of disease and death in developed nations — diseases that are crippling health-care systems, such as heart disease, obesity, dementia, diabetes, and cancer — all have recognized causal links to a lack of sleep.” — Matthew Walker

Hello, my sleepy friends! Let’s talk about how to sleep like a baby, okay? Now, first things first, many of us are doing it all wrong. Our sleep habits need a little tuning, just like our favourite Bollywood songs. Let’s break it down.

Before we dive in, do you know i have taken a pledge to improve my 5 habits this year and sleeping on time is one of them. You can check my medium post on 5 habits i want to improve in 2024.

What We’re Doing Wrong:

  1. Late-Night Screen Rendezvous: Many of us have a love affair with our phones before bedtime. You know, scrolling through WhatsApp or watching funny cat videos. But, guess what? The blue light messes with our sleep, just like a surprise Bollywood twist.
  2. Midnight Snack Shenanigans: Now, imagine you’re the hero in your own movie, and suddenly, you decide to eat a big meal at midnight. Not a great plot twist, right? Our bodies don’t like heavy meals when it’s time to snooze.
  3. Chai Overload: We Indians love our chai, but having it right before bedtime is like inviting a loud party to your dreams. Caffeine, my friends, isn’t the best bedtime buddy.

The Desi Solutions:

  1. Screen Time Curfew: Set a ‘screen time curfew’. Just like Amrish Puri Ji used to set rules in every movie, set a time to say goodbye to your phone, at least an hour before bedtime. Let your eyes relax, just like your favorite actor after a power-packed performance.
  2. Light Dinner Drama: Opt for a light dinner, like a breezy Bollywood romance. Keep it simple, maybe some daal and roti, not a buffet feast. Your tummy will thank you, and your sleep will be uninterrupted, like a perfect movie date.
  3. Chai Matinee: Enjoy your chai in the afternoon. Sip it just at the right time — not too early, not too late. Find that perfect moment for a soothing chai break.
  4. Sleepytime Rituals: Create a ‘sleepytime ritual’, like a dance number before the climax. Maybe read a book, listen to soothing music, or do some gentle stretches. Let your body know it’s time to wind down.
  5. Cozy Sleep Setup: Make your sleep space cozy, just like a warm hug. Dim the lights, use comfy sheets, and make it your dream haven. Your bedroom should be a blockbuster location for a good night’s sleep.
  6. Early to Bed, Early to Rise: Follow the good ol’ advice — ‘early to bed, early to rise’. It’s not just a saying; it’s a Bollywood mantra for a healthy sleep routine.

Remember, my dear friends, sleep is your superpower. Treat it with love and care, just like your favorite Bollywood superstar. Follow me on Medium & these tips, and you’ll be snoozing like a baby in no time. Sweet dreams, sleep champs!
