We have confirmed to organize a company retreat. I’m going to plan the activities.

In this one, each teammate will bring some family members or friends to join the retreat. Thus we expect this as partly leisure, partly work.

In planning the schedule, I’m looking around for references. One famous example is Buffer. Buffer organized retreat every half year. Since start, they have been organizing 9 retreats. The number of employees grew from a few to almost 100. As they sponsor tickets and accommodation to the employee’s family as well. The latest trip shall have more than 200 people going.

Something I found so far in Buffer’s retreats:

  1. Set 9am-5pm as working schedule
  2. There are leisure events like boat trip, hiking and bike trip
  3. It usually lasts for one week, starting on Monday
  4. They try to build new product, Buffer for Business is a great example
  5. They share about books to read, habits to learn and other stuff
  6. They encourage a lot on causal chat between colleagues
  7. The suggestions are discussed transparently

We still have one more month before the retreat. I am going to find more references and make suggestions to the team.

I am taking a challenge to write a post every day for 180 days. The content will be related to my life as a father, entrepreneur, developer and trainer.
