A dream that unites all the Indian football fans like you and me. A dream to watch our Heroes representing the country at the biggest sporting event. A dream to hear National anthem, to get those goosebumps, watching our Indian flag waving at the global football festival. Ah…it makes me emotional when i think about it. But the question is how long do we have to wait for see our FIFA dream come true??

well definitely that fateful day is not far away… No doubt our hope of qualifying for 2022 wc is dead now, but to be honest most of us were expecting this to happen. Every one knows we are still not best in Asia (not even in top 5). It is always said if India wants to play the world cup, they will have to be top in Asia. Like same level as of Qatar, japan, Korea or Australia. And there is no reason why we can’t reach their level. There are so much talent budding in our country, it just needs proper scouting and grass root development, which means proper training and diet from young age.

Indian super league has really brought a revolution in Indian football. By providing great infrastructure, good coaches, fantastic atmosphere and quality football it has really contributed much and it can be clearly seen with the improved ranking of the national team. But still the need of the hour is a longer league which will give more playing time to the players. unfortunately, you can’t do this in a year as it requires a road map, planning and money. And according to that we might see a longer league with relegation and promotion from 2023–24.

Another thing is that Indian players should try to ply their trade outside India. if not in European leagues then Qatar, japan or Australia is not a bad option. Maybe they won’t make much money as in India but definitely it will help them to improve. We have an example of our ‘wall’ Gurpreet singh sandhu. He was in Europe for sometime with staebaek, in Scottish league and it is one of the reason why he is best GK of India.

Indian football is in growing stage or you can say transition stage at the moment. There has been lot of changes in playing style of the team if you compare it to few years back. If our federation trusts our current coach Igor stimac, give him some time and if things go according to the plan . No doubt we can make it to 2026 world cup.
