How To Update Firestick/Fire TV with New Software
The Amazon Fire Stick is a TV with Internet access that allows users to view (and play games) a variety of content over their Internet connection. However, like any device connected to the Internet, it needs to be updated frequently. With the latest updates, a new functionality has been introduced, such as an update to Fire TV 3 that allows users to view local movie programs. Contact Fire Stick Support Helpdesk to get more help.
The updates also fixed bugs that affected the performance of the devices, including a bug that prevented the screensaver from starting until June 2016. Therefore, this guide explains how to upgrade your Amazon Fire Stick. It describes the steps that need to be followed for all Amazon Fire TV devices.
This tutorial provides instructions for updating Firestick / Fire TV in three easy steps. If you are using a version of Firestick / Fire TV, a software update is available on your device. Normally this will be installed automatically. However, sometimes we need to update manually by following the steps below.

Depending on your Fire TV device, some kind of software update is available. If you are using the original Fire TV, Fire TV 1, Fire TV 2, Fire Stick 1, or Fire Stick 2, your device will be upgraded to software version 5.2.6.8.
And for those who are using Fire TV 3, Fire TV Cube, Fire Stick TV 4K, software update 6.2.5.8 is available now.
Before the update, the software was different on each Fire TV device. However, when installing the latest version, all of these devices are synchronized with the same software.
In the following instructions, I use a third generation Fire TV with a dongle. However, these steps can be performed on any Fire TV device that you have.
