I acknowledge that there is a difference between the fields. Otherwise, they would have the same name.

As a UX designer, UI design is one of the tools you would use to put your ideas out and let people know what you are thinking about. The way UI is created is also part of Human Centered Design (HCD) where a good user experience is in focus.

This is one reasoning why I would assume these fields are used together frequently.
