Film Review: Accepted (2006)
Accepted is a teen-comedy movie directed by Steve Pink. This movie was released on 2006 and was produced by Universal Pictures. It went to gross over $35 million. Featuring Justin Long as the main character, this movie delivered a story about high school seniors trying to get into university.
The plot revolves around Bartley Gaines, a cheerful guy on his last year of high school. He wasn’t very smart and was rejected by every university he applied to. Because of this, Bartley and his friends (that were also rejected) made a fake university called South Harmon Institute of Technology, and pretended they were accepted there so that their parents would not be disappointed. Their scam went well until suddenly many rejected students were accepted by this university. Bartley and his friends got into trouble after Harmon University found out about South Harmon. They were at risk of getting closed, but at the end, they succeeded on keeping their school open after getting an accreditation.
Justin Long delivered a great performance as Bartley, so did the other casts. They brought alive the characters and made the movie enjoyable. This movie is entertaining and fun to watch, it also teaches us to never give up. It has so many jokes that high school students would probably laugh at. But it is also unrealistic, and some might say the jokes are not that funny.
Although elder people wouldn’t like this movie, I’d say that I enjoyed watching it. It might be because I can relate to Bartley and his friends situation— worried about whether or not I could get into the university I wanted. I would like to recommend this movie to high school students that share the same concern as Bartley. It will motivate you to do better and never give up.
