The ‘Boater’ Hat as rocked by JohnnyDrille

I’ve heard people say many times ‘hats are not for me’ or ‘it doesn’t make me look good’, or ‘I can’t find the perfect hat for my head/face shape’. Hold on! Don’t we always find the right clothes that flatter our body shape, regardless? Good! Why then do we not say ‘I’m gonna remain indoors since I can’t find the perfect outfit that matches my size or body shape’? We don’t! Simply because we cannot afford to remain unclad and most importantly, our outfit is a reflection of who we are and what we are.

Hear this: If you need people to listen to you, regardless of what you say, dress well!

Sounds cliche?

However, for any occasion, you think good looks are enough? try a better, dapper look, it’s a charm, and you’ll love yourself more, that’s certain. But you ask me, ‘how do I achieve this look’? You already know, try a hat on!
You think you’re an ugly mug? Here’s a fact:

Hats make all men look jaunty. But picking a hat that is right for your face shape will increase your attractiveness and give you a sharper appearance.

Now that we have established a baseline, there are rules to which you must adhere if you want to have that ‘killer’ look.
Before you pick a hat, you need to consider;

1.Have a basic knowledge of ‘the hats’ — If it could potentially contribute to your good looks, would it hurt to at least have a knowledge of it? I don’t think so! I think it gives you more edge and puts you ahead in the game. the knowledge of hats is a broad one, but the two images below give a summary of different types of hats. Although the popular ones — the Fedora, Trilby and the Boater (AKA Straw boater) are all considered to be the most elegant for Men, trying out others might not be a bad idea after all.

2. Know your face shape — This is by far the most important consideration. You may have heard a lady tell her man to get a particular type of haircut that flatters his face shape. Hair types come in varieties that it would be difficult to match a particular effect, however, there’s one proven way for all men to balance out their faces; hats!

3. Hair colour and complexion — While most colours look good on any man, some go well with remarkable ease on certain complexions and hair colours.

4. Harmony, Harmony and more Harmony!— I can’t stress this enough. Hats can be worn at any time, with any outfit, of any colour at any occasion. But note, to make a statement and look particularly elegant and stylish, MAKE SURE your hat colour complements your suit or outfit. It’s called HARMONY
