It’s a bit unconventional, but I like the Sixers’ current strategy. Knowing that they have at least one if not two or three high lottery picks coming their way from other teams in the next two years, they are able to sacrifice a bit of their rebuilding process for a win-now mentality.

Why not teach Simmons, Okafor, and Noel/Embiid how to actually win basketball games and not be bottom dwellers? Even if the Sixers finish 11th in the East and end up with a pick around 7–12, the Kings and Lakers picks should still net potential top 5 picks. I know having two top 5 picks in the same year can be enticing, but at some point, players get tired of losing ballgames and develop bad habits. It’s been said before, but I think this is the start of a new era for the Sixers.
