After a one and done season with the Texas Longhorns, C Jarrett Allen was drafted at pick #22 Thursday night, to the hometown Brooklyn Nets. The Nets recently made waves in the NBA off season by trading Brook Lopez and their #27 pick in the 2017 draft. Allen is considered a raw talent on the offensive side of the basketball by analysts across the league, but his overall potential and defensive skill set appears to have put Brooklyn in an ideal spot to replace the former All-Star Brook Lopez. Allen will likely begin as a backup to Timofey Mozgov in Brooklyn, after being traded in the D’Angelo Russell trade. The recent past for Nets basketball has been filled with disappointment, but perhaps the new additions of both Russell and Allen will lead to an exciting young combo in the Eastern Conference.
