I get most of what you're saying. I'm also pretty sure it works well for you. I've tried both approaches, and I wrote tests for several years (and did TDD for a year). Then I started wondering how come we still see soo many bugs in code with test coverage? I don't mean just my code. GitHub issue tracker is at your disposal. And even more importantly, why removing tests does not increase the number of bugs in my code? Maybe differnt people have different approaches to writing tests and/or code, and maybe some people don't need tests, while others cannot code without them. And maybe for some people, going fast enough to revisit the same part of the code multiple times until it is massaged into shape is more productive than going slow and planning each step ahead of time... to each their own.
