Seeking Fundraiser With Swagger
Hi!
Let me start with a question: do you think it would be a good thing if hundreds of thousands of young people left school every day feeling inspired? If so, read on. Our organization, The Future Project, is positioned to do just that. We are a team of one hundred creators, leaders, executors, professionals and friends serving tens of thousands of students in seven states and we’re looking for a major gifts officer who is excited to help us make a leap in scale and, at the same time, to develop the art and science of what we call “big-bets fundraising.”
The best fundraising jobs are…well, fun. So we thought we’d write you, our future colleagues, a cover letter explaining three reasons we think this opportunity might be the next great love of your professional life.
- We empower philanthropists to realize their giving goals.
Some 60% of America’s biggest philanthropists say social change in areas like education and healthcare is their highest priority but give just 20% of their largest donations to these causes. Why the gap? Many say “I can’t find enough opportunities to put large amounts of my money to work on the issues I really want to change.” (Source: Philanthropy Roundtable)
We are that opportunity: a third-party research firm calls our impact “transformative” and, while 50% of young people are not hopeful about the future, an independent study found that 100% of the students we work with reported a greater sense of possibility due to The Future Project.
On this team, your big bold asks would change young people’s lives and the field of philanthropy, too.
2. Fundraising leaders are hard to find, but so are teams like ours.
We have fun tackling ambitious dreams together, and we’re in the top 2% of companies for leaders who care about, and prioritize the development of, their people (Source: Our 2016 Gallup Engagement Survey Results). Here’s a video where you can learn just a little bit about how we think about teams.
But we’re not just inspired while we’re hard at work — our team is inspired when we leave. Check out: JP’s album, Andy and Dan’s musical, Sarah’s justice initiative, Syreeta’s food business, and William Malcolm’s fashion line.
We could go on — we didn’t even mention Zac’s 90's cover band!
3. We put the “fun” in fundraising.
Our CEO once earned an investment from one of the world’s foremost hedge fund managers while dressed as Ben Franklin. We’re not sure anything further needs to be said on this one.
So what’s this opportunity?
Building on our relationships with some of the nation’s top philanthropists and foundations, you’ll be part of a team to raise fifty million dollars over the next three years so that hundreds of thousands of young people leave school inspired every day.
