I am going to start speaking up. I was a little too quiet last year. I shifted my focus to working on business—it was an important shift to make—but it’s time for another. I accomplished many things in 2015 but I want do more.

Coming to Balance

I’ve said I need to write slash do more and I did an OK job last year. Being “too busy” is the quickest excuse I can come up with for not sharing more of my thoughts, but that’s not an area I want to slack in anymore. I enjoy this place—where I can write for me. This place where I can speak, craft and create without charging a fee. So I intend to speak, here. This may seem small but this is my space to come to balance. Writing is my method to learn and interpret what I see. It’s a pebble that creates ripples in many areas for me.

Last year was the season of being on tilt. I put my head down and worked a lot. It was necessary—and still is—but balance is important. Working hard is not enough. In order to arrive at my desired destination, I have to part with comforts that restrict progress.

How hard can I work while keeping important areas of my life in balance? I don’t know. But I intent to shift some things around and figure it out. I’ve gotten too comfortable with just working and let things slide. Writing is not the only answer. There are a handful of elements in my ingredients for finding balance, but my writings can be a symbol of them all. I want to turn up the volume and adjust the left-right balance to create a smooth sound.

I want to speak up. Not yell, but raise my voice.

This is me knocking off the rust and getting back into the grove of writing. Catch up on my previous writings by clicking on my profile. Follow along.
