You have written a book.

Or more chances that you still have a draft lying in your Google Drive.

Later in most cases for everyone.

I started with longer works first. My book used to be around 50k. with an increase in page counts, the price of the book also increases. Most of my energy went to my longer work. I barely had any energy to do promotion.

The problem here was I wasn’t learning from others. I was trying to do everything myself.

Experimenting is always good. But if it takes too long to come to a conclusion then ask for help.

I went online and met writers on Reddit and Tumblr who were creating short flash fiction every single day.

They used this as an advertisement for longer work.

So if you are new and want to bring in sales for longer work then just do this —

  1. Create only one account either on Reddit, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, or Medium. Any one.
  2. Pick a niche. For fiction it can be — Horror, crime thriller, spiritual, romance, YA (famous, promoted on TikTok as well).
  3. Write a short story every single day. The word count should be around 500 to 1k. Don’t go further because after 4–5 weeks you’ll feel tired. So pick a small word range.
  4. Add CTA at the end. Like — “wanna read more? Visit my store!”. Some readers even buy free stories to help out their favorite writers financially.
  5. Use Gumroad/Payhip or even Patreon for that. Make money directly.

So this is it. Try this out and tell me how it goes. You won’t see instant results because it takes time to get traffic to your stories. I’ll advice you to stick to one platform for promotion. Later you can share the same stories on another platform for more traffic.

Tip — Write 5–6 short stories before starting this experiment.
