Day 3 of my Gothenburg Exchange Trip

I am testing out another blogging platform, as I was getting increasingly annoyed at the square photo function of Dayre. Being an android user, I have to crop all my photos, and they just don’t look good.

Also, I’m still using a Note 3 (I know, old school), and the image quality does not exactly excite me. Since I did bring my digital camera after all, I can’t possibly keep them for my own viewing pleasure right?

I was previously on Wix.com, but it’s kind of a hassle to set up. Although I much prefer the templates there, beggars can’t be choosers.

Anyway, if this platform is easy (or easier) to use, I will seriously considering switching over.

Now that we got ALL the disclaimers out of the way, let’s start this post proper.

Day 3, and jet lag is slowly creeping in.

As I took a redeye flight and only arrived in the late morning local time, it felt as if my flight was shorter than it actually was (which to be exact, was 16 hours in total).

So today, at 630am local time (1230pm SG time), I was wide awake, and hungry for breakfast. I cannot live without breakfast. Perhaps I was too spoilt by my mother, who leaves me something to eat every morning before she leaves for work. Now that I am here alone, I got to start preparing my own breakfast. But first, the morning view:

Looks nice right? I guess it IS refreshing not seeing any buildings in front of you. Also, mornings here are great! Cool weather (usually around 15 degs), birds chirping, and NO SOUND OF KIDS AT THE PLAYGROUND.

On today’s menu, was baked Ciabatta, with grilled cheese. As we split the bread in half, we laid 2 halves of different sausages on one side, and boiled broccoli and carrots on the other. The result? A BOMBASS BREAKFAST.

Unfortunately, pics of this can only be found on my snapchat (hayzale).

Then, because we were up so early and had nothing to do till 1pm, we decided to go into the city centre to do some window shopping.

We alighted at Järntorget, and was greeted by this waterfall:

CHIO.

After spending 10 minutes in this area, we got bored, and decided to venture deeper into the city area, where I bought a box of razors for 30 SGD.

Not going to put anymore attention on that 30 SGD because I still cannot get over it. (WHY YOU SO EXPENSIVE!?!?! NO DEMAND IS IT?! SWEDISH PEOPLE DON’T SHAVE AS MUCH AS US MEH?? I COULD HAVE BOUGHT 2 SHAVING SETS WITH THAT MONEH BACK IN SG!! Btw, if you don’t already know, Venus, is a shop in SG’s heartlands, selling cheapass hygiene/bath/shower products)

After this shopping fiesta, we needed to pee, and only Macs had a toilet, of which we had to pay 5SEK (80 cents SGD).

80 CENTS LEI! FOR 1 CUBICLE THAT REAKED OF AMMONIA. Eh, toilet uncle sometimes not there so I don’t have to pay that 20 cents. Now these Swedish toilets expect me to pay 80 cents? And because the doors here are controlled by machines, must pay to use.

But we still are… Singaporean living overseas right? So even though we are in a foreign land, the Singaporean mentality is still there. We paid 5SEK, cos no choice, really needed to pee, and no other toilets around. But both of us went in. So 2.50SEK each, around 40 Cents SGD. HEHEHE.

Moving on, we went for an info talk, which was cool. But then we wanted to get our student ID cards done, so we can start to exploit the system, and spam our ID cards to get discounts. Walked for a good 15 minutes and found the building. Except, we were looking for unit 19, but were at 19A. HOWEVER, there was our Uni’s logo outside, which made us think they are the same thing. Went in, and saw that the place we were looking for was at B1.

Ok, so we were thinking, B1 = Basement 1. And since we were on the ground floor, basement meant to go down a level right?

Right, we did that, and what greeted us was a locked door. Nothing else but a door we could not get through. So we were like hmm.. okay, let’s approach this differently.

We went back to where we started (ground floor), and pressed “E”, because 1 level after E would have been B1. Except, when we pressed E, the lift didn’t move, BECAUSE WE WERE ALREADY ON LEVEL E.

You may ask, what does “E” mean?

Don’t know, did not ask too. HAHAHA.

So we went back to the directory from where we saw “B1”, and there, what greeted us, was our stupidity.

The B1 the directory was referring to, was not which floor the ticketing office was located.

Rather, it was the BLOCK in which the office was located.

Idiots. We were such idiots. HAHAHA.

ANYWAY, after being complete fools, we went to Central Station, hoping to explore this lovely city a little more.

2 significant findings here.

  1. State controlled alcohol shop, where we bought a BOTTLE of Rosé for $18, and
  2. ASIAN SUPERMARKET. Went apeshit there, buying a 1.4kg whole chicken that we intend to use when we are cooking herbal chicken soup.

VERY EXCITED OVER GROCERY, and also, because the people here don’t use plastic bags (all about that eco life yo), we took about 10 more carrier bags that we can use as rubbish plastic bags. You know this thing in your house?

Ya we don’t have it here, cos never bring from home. Also, because we are new here, even if we DID have it, our inventory would have been 0. So need to slowly stock up you know.
