Paris, December 21st, 2022 — We are excited to announce that Alex Flamant has joined HCVC as a Venture Partner.

We’ve known Alex since 2016 when he had just kicked off the London.AI meetup and was leaving IBM to work in venture at Notion Capital. Having built his career with a strong emphasis on community building, our paths were destined to cross. Nearly six years later, and after numerous collaborations we are excited to announce that he will be joining us as a Venture Partner. Based out of London, he will be a great addition to our mission of backing ambitious deep tech founders.

“I got to meet Alexis and the team when I was starting in VC and was immediately impressed by the community of founders HCVC had assembled. Today’s most pressing issues in climate, manufacturing, and healthcare come with a hardware component and HCVC has built an incredible track record in this space. The time to build is now, and I am thrilled to be joining a fund that is willing to back daring founders tackling meaningful problems”

Alex has had a chance to back world class machine learning talent at companies like Unbabel, Five.AI, Scortex, and Sofia Salud. London AI, the quarterly machine learning community set up in 2015, has served as a key cornerstone within the European data driven environment. Alex’s experiences in venture and community building, will be a welcomed addition to our venture partner program which already includes repeat entrepreneurs and Formula 1 directors.

Because climate is a hardware problem, Alex has been leading ZERO, a new event series that brings together founders, researchers, and policy experts focused on real solutions to the climate crisis.

You will find three venture backed founders talking about in market solutions, a highly relevant community, and investors willing to back sh&* that matters. A good chance to talk about carbon capture, nuclear, synthetic proteins, mining, energy storage and how to bring all of these to market ASAP. We have had two events so far. Our first event had a nuclear theme with speaker’s from Renaissance Fusion, Transmutex, and Focused Energy, followed by a carbon capture themed evening, with chats from Seabound, Inherit, Mission Zero and Carbon Engineering. The videos are up on our YouTube channel. If you would like to join our next one, stay tuned by following us on twitter.
