Kristen —

This piece is really well thought through, and looking back, I applaud you for pairing the principle of hyperreality with Donald Trump. Though perhaps not at the forefront of everyone’s minds in this election, it certainly does work to explain much of his seemingly unexplainable behavior.

Your conclusion also made me think, “Oh yeah, that’s so right” — the next iteration of this is going to be some sort of internet/social media star, and we can have this conversation all over again.

Really the only comment I have is to ask, not necessarily in search of a response, what will happen if our society gradually becomes embedded in a hyperreality? If Trump were to become president, would we all fall into some similar hyperreality of our own, or maybe one constructed by him? Again, not looking for an answer but rather pushing this one step further.

And, as someone who is really, really confounded by Donald Trump and the things he does and says, thanks for giving me a brief clue into his world!
