I absolutely don’t think that need to be true. If that’s happening, I think it’s a ‘smell’ that something is wrong with the direction, plan, or leadership maturity if anyone is feeling strained. It just means that the system is out of whack! Something needs to get adjusted, and everyone will be more efficient. That includes, the business being better!
Whenever I’ve seen founders killing themselves after-launch, to me it’s a sign that they are still focused more on being individual contributors rather than focusing on constructing a highly productive ‘business machine’. Being a founder always takes a lot of work, but it’s wrong if you’re ‘covering’ for employees and working harder. Something’s up that could be fixed.
