OPTION B— TREATER

This is a choose-your-own adventure story, so if you didn’t just arrive from reading Part I, you might want to head back to this post.

“I think the answer to the puzzle is treater.”

Eliza types it into the keypad.

INTRUDER! INTRUDER! INTRUDER!

I hold my ears as an alarm blares so loudly that it’s splitting my eardrums.

“I’m not interested in buying anything!” a woman says, leaning out the window of the top floor. She’s got lots of flyaway gray hairs, and a very wrinkled face. “So you can go away!”

“We’re not selling anything!” I shout up to her. “Can you turn this alarm off?”

“Go away!”

“Please!” Eliza says. “My brother threw my Mom’s wallet through your window, and we just need to get it back.”

“No!”
“Say the magic word!” Frank says. Then he shouts up, “PRETTY PLEASE WITH SUGAR ON TOP!”

The woman frowns. She leaves the window, and comes back to it ten seconds later. “I’ll give you sugar on top!” she screams as she dumps a bowl of sugar on our heads.

“It’s snowing!” Frank says.

“That’s very rude,” Eliza says.

“Oh, you think I’m salty, do you?”

No need to describe what comes out of her window next.

“You’re the worst!”

“Eliza, no!

Out the window fly wursts and sausages, all in a link.

“Let us go in!”

Out flies the lettuce.

I pull on her arm. “We better leave.”
Down comes butter.

Hey! I said we were leaving!”

“THEN LEAVE!” the woman shrieks.

And so we do.

CASE CLOSED.
