About 230 Black men are shot by police every year, but more than twenty five hundred Blacks are murdered, mostly by other Black men. According to FBI stats, Black males make or about six percent of the US population but account for almost half of all murders. According to a DOJ study in LA, Blacks are ten times more likely to resist arrest than every other group. A DOJ study in Philadelphia found that Black officers were twice as likely to shoot a Black suspect than a White officer. A Tulane university study recently found that in New Orleans, Black judges issued harsher sentences to Black defendents, while White judges did the same to White defendents. Finally a study released yesterday by a progressive Black economist from Harvard found that Blacks are NOT shot by police at a higher rate than other races, but in fact are shot at a lower rate.

The DOJ report from Ferguson details the underlying cause of harassment, repeated police stops, arrests and incarceration, it’s municipal governments who have turned their police into revenue generators and armed debt enforcers. Read up.
