Ahsim, in the military, we spoke frequently about following lawful orders, even at the enlisted level. Few blindly follow orders. More importantly while enlisted personal swear an oath to follow the orders of officers appointed over them, officers swear an oath to protect the constitution from all enemies foreign or domestic. If a president issues orders and military leaders believe he has exceeded his constitutional authority, they may very well refuse to follow them.
No one in government blindly follows orders. If you want object lessons in unconstitutional executive orders, mr Obama lost half his constitutional legal challenges, a far higher percentage than any previous administration. He violated his oath of office on several occasions by refusing to follow inconvenient existing law, he committed fraud to sell his ACA bill to the American people, and he used federal resources to harass his political opponents in order to silence critics during an election. There is also a great deal of circumstantial evidence that the White House acted to deliberately impede Mr Trump’s ability to govern.
So far, all Mr Trump has done is run his mouth and anger his political enemies through actions that are entirely legal, but are hated by progressives.
A point that far too many ignore is that the election of Mr Trump wasn’t an anomaly. The Democrats lost more than a thousand legislative seats during Mr Obama’s presidency, leaving the party with less power and authority than they had held in a century. Mr Trump’s election is the culmination of a shift in attitude by the electorate the democrat party willfully ignored to their peril, and they have been throwing a temper tantrum ever since.
Trump is frequently a jerk, but it is the progressive left which currently represent the greatest actual threat to democratic governance and the right of the people to choose their own leader.
