Airline bashing, America’s new favorite pastime

Aircraft aren’t allowed to have single points of failure, and most IT systems don’t either. Not having a generator system to keep their network running, and not having a disaster plan that accounted for the possibility of a power outage that could leave critical operations staff offline is unacceptable.
I work at home. I have extra laptop batteries, a UPS system for my modem and router, and thanks to my employer paying for one connection I even have redundant internet from two different providers.
Claiming a global carrier should be excused for shutting down the entire airline because the power went out is ridiculous.
