To Maile’s point, people are going to feel whatever emotional response their brain instructs. Using the word “right” in the first sentence below was a very poor choice of words, so strike it. I’ll stick with my second sentence.
(physical) Fear is not an appropriate response to the wrong guy asking for a date. And I will add, In the absence of actual evidence that physical fear is appropriate sitting in the middle of a public restaurant or bar with a guy whose identity and contact information you have in your phone.

Arguing that fear is an appropriate response to the wrong guy asking for a date implies it’s reasonable for women to fear ALL men are predators. That’s patently absurd, and far more sexist than the men we’re discussing.
