Eric, last year, 4,367 people were shot, and 784 people were killed in Chicago. One shooting every two hours and twenty minutes. A murder occurred every 12 hours. 79.9% of the victims were Black, 14.6 Hispanic, and 2.1% White.
Meanwhile in the same time frame, Chicago police shot and killed 11, and wounded 14. Most of them were armed, some were shooting at police.
According to the Washington Post, 900,000 police in the US killed 963 people in 2016, in the entire country, armed or unarmed, justified or unjustified.
In 2016, about 35,000 people died in traffic accidents, 8,000 were murdered by gun, and there were about 660,000 abortions.
Police shootings are certainly occurring. Some are unjustified, some are mistakes, and some are murder. The assertion that police are murdering the innocent with impunity however, or that any one group should be afraid of the police is an inflamatory lie.
