Holly this is a great example of the trade off we make. Yes we could live like the Indians, but in order to do so, three quarters of us would have to die. The things you despise are the systems that allow the planet to support a lot more of us. They are the reason we were able to throttle childhood disease, vastly reduce infant mortality, dramatically extend lifespans, spread literacy everywhere, lift tens of billions out of poverty and even establish representative government. Govrrnment, no government, can afford to develop any of those things. That’s why private capital investment is used for science, medicine, food production, resource extraction, and on and on. You claim all greed, but make no mistake, the state desperately needs that investment. Extract it through taxation? Ok, but take away risk incentive, and the whole house of cards collapses. Every socialist government on the planet, the actual social economies not controlled by dictators, are ALL shifting away from socialist principles because thise policies are failing the people. There is no utopia.
