I find it despicable that we will deport legal permanent residents who have been here since they were toddlers, for a crime later committed one or two decades after becoming legal residents. I recall a young man in Los Angeles who was convicted of felony assault at around age 20, but had been here since he was one. He was sent back to a country he had never seen, speaking a language he had never learned, and was permanently banned from returning to the only country he had ever known. I find that inhumane.
