I used to manage a business that operated a data center for paying customers and helped them develop disaster plans. Yes, having back up power for all those servers, the center staff, the communications systems, and redundant internet was a straightforward norm. There are thousands and thousands of entities, private and public, that must continue to operate in an emergency. A global airline is no different. The systems, processes and equipment necessary to do so are widely available and exhaustively documented.
